These nadis originate in the muladhara and travel up the Spine.Ida and pingala are mirror images of each other .The Ida nadi is known as left channel because it flows to the left as it leaves the muladhara Chakra and runs to the left nostril. Like that the pingala nadi is known as right channel because it flows to the right as it leaves the muladhara Chakra and runs to the right nostril. Sushmna runs along the spinal cord in the center through the seven Chakras and ends at crown of the head .By combining of these 3 nadis appears like ‘CADUCEUS’ emblem ( except that wings).
